Extra Ordinary is a lecture series that recently passed this April and was held at Standford University Campus. Its lecture series focused on highly accomplished architects and landscape and urban designers focusing on sustainability. As a self-study, I chose this lecture series to create a booklet brochure with an accompanying poster.
For this design, I focused only on typography with no other elements. The content is sourced from the Standford Architect and Campus Planning Office, including additional sources to create bios with some hypothetical information to flesh out possible details or extra speakers.

My first step in approaching this design was doing a few word association exercises. In my word association, I started off with words such as geometry, simplistic, three dimensions, and structure. However, further down the line, I started pulling more from the "Extra Ordinary" name. I came up with some word associations that were similar to revealing something or similar to “being in the limelight." From that point, I wanted the direction of the design to have some relationship between hidden versus reveal or something that markedly stands out.
